 Rates & Reservations

We have some prime rod availability on DePuy, Armstrong and Nelson's Spring Creeks available for our guests. Call or email us for dates.
We are happy to make Spring Creek and other private water reservations for you. Rod fees will be payable in advance. We will also make guide/outfitter recommendations, and will have the appropriate outfitter contact you to arrange guide services. We recommend that beginning fishers hire a guide for your trip. Seasoned fishers should consider hiring a guide at least for one day if you have not fished these waters previously.

In addition to fishing the spring creeks you will want at least a day on the magnificent Yellowstone River which flows the length of Paradise Valley and through the town of Livingston and east to Big Timber. This is a spectacular river for drift boat enthusiasts. We also have several excellent private lakes and ponds in the area and we are 45 minutes from the Gallatin River and Milesnick Ranch with spring creek and river fishing available. Many of our guests enjoy a day's fishing on Soda Butte and the Lamar Rivers in Yellowstone Park.

Spring Creeks

The Livingston area is best known for three world famous spring creeks.
DePuy Spring Creek, Armstrong Spring Creek and Nelson's Spring Creek are located in the beautiful Paradise Valley. These easily wadeable streams are considered "blue ribbon" trout waters with great numbers of sizable rainbows, browns and cutthroats. These three creeks flow at a constant temperature, are fishable all year and are unaffected by spring run-off. We reserve a limited number of rods on these creeks for our guests. Please check with us for availability, especially during peak season (mid June through September).

With the backdrop of the beautiful Absaroka Range, Armstrong Spring Creek is easily wadeable and offers great dry fly fishing. Located on the O'Hair Ranch, the creek is a little over a mile long, entirely spring fed and flows perfectly clear all year with a water temperature averaging 50 degrees. The clarity of this stream makes finding fish easy. Trout numbers are exceptional here--all native rainbows and cutthroats and beautiful browns ranging in size from 14" to 20" with great weight and fighting power. Great for sight nymphing as well as dry fly fishing.

DePuy Spring Creek

Working Ranch owned and operated by Daryl and Theresa Smith (Daryl is the grandson of Warren DePuy.) Open all year. Only 16 rods allowed each day. Catch and release only.

This beautifully maintained creek is considered one of the finest in the country. DePuy Spring Creek offers three miles of private water and offers diverse water from riffles and runs to classic spring creek stretches of smooth water and pond-like areas. The water here is crystal clear and easily wadeable with an average depth of three feet and average width of fifty to eighty feet. Rainbows, browns and cutthroats thrive here and average in size from 13" to 18". Hatches include baetis in spring and fall, pale morning duns in June and July and sulphurs in July, August and into September.

Nelson's Spring Creek

Working ranch owned and operated by the Nelson Family. Open all year. Only 7 rods allowed each day. Catch and release only.

Fees per rod per day
April 1 - September 30 $100
October 1 - March 31 $40

Located on the east side of the Yellowstone River directly opposite Armstrong and DePuy, Nelson's Spring Creek is classic spring creek water with long smooth flat runs and several great riffles. This creek is shallow and super clear. The average width is approximately 100 feet. The creek has about a mile of fishable water and there are good sized rainbows, browns and cutthroats averaging from 15" to 19" and a few well over 20". Hatches are basically the same as those on DePuy and Armstrong.

 Milesnick Recreation

Working cattle ranch near Belgrade owned and operated by Tom and Mary Kay Milesnick. Open 3rd weekend in May through November. Catch and release only.

Fees per rod per day
May, Sept, Oct, Nov - $50
June, July, Aug - $75

The beautiful Milesnick Recreation Ranch and farm has two spring creeks and a section of the East Gallatin River. Benhart (about 3 miles long) and Thompson Creek (about one mile long) meander through golden fields of barley grown for Anhauser -Busch. Stealth in stalking trout is needed here, but while the creeks are challenging, patient fishers will be happily rewarded. The East Gallatin with about five miles of river running through this ranch offers respite from the more technical fishing on the creeks after spring run-off.

 Yellowstone River

Open all year. Limits apply. Floats are generally day-long . The river sections usually floated are from Tom Miner Basin just north of Yellowstone Park to Springdale, east of Livingston. There are plenty of fishing accesses for those who wish to launch their own boat or wade.

Fees: Floats run approx. $350 for 2 people. See links for local outfitters.

A float trip down the beautiful Yellowstone River through the magnificent Paradise Valley is a must. Guides will generally stop at eddies for wading and a day's float will include a streamside picnic lunch. Native cutthroats, rainbows, browns and whitefish provide both dry fly and nymphing opportunities. While the river is open to fishing all year, spring run-off usually begins in mid May and can last until around July 4th. During that time and after any heavy thunderstorms occurring in Yellowstone park, the river will muddy and be dangerous to float.
