With the backdrop of the beautiful
Absaroka Range, Armstrong Spring Creek is easily wadeable
and offers great dry fly fishing. Located on the O'Hair Ranch,
the creek is a little over a mile long, entirely spring fed and
flows perfectly clear all year with a water temperature averaging
50 degrees. The clarity of this stream makes finding fish easy.
Trout numbers are exceptional here--all native rainbows and cutthroats
and beautiful browns ranging in size from 14" to 20"
with great weight and fighting power. Great for sight nymphing
as well as dry fly fishing. |

clear and easily wadeable with an average depth of three feet
and average width of fifty to eighty feet. Rainbows, browns and
cutthroats thrive here and average in size from 13" to 18".
Hatches include baetis in spring and fall, pale morning duns
in June and July and sulphurs in July, August and into September. |

Located on the east side of the
Yellowstone River directly opposite Armstrong and DePuy, Nelson's
Spring Creek is classic spring creek water with long smooth
flat runs and several great riffles. This creek is shallow and
super clear. The average width is approximately 100 feet. The
creek has about a mile of fishable water and there are good sized
rainbows, browns and cutthroats averaging from 15" to 19"
and a few well over 20". Hatches are basically the same
as those on DePuy and Armstrong. |

The beautiful Milesnick Recreation Ranch
and farm has two spring creeks and a section of the East
Gallatin River. Benhart (about 3 miles long) and Thompson Creek
(about one mile long) meander through golden fields of barley
grown for Anhauser -Busch. Stealth in stalking trout is needed
here, but while the creeks are challenging, patient fishers will
be happily rewarded. The East Gallatin with about five miles
of river running through this ranch offers respite from the more
technical fishing on the creeks after spring run-off. |

A float trip down the beautiful Yellowstone
River through the magnificent Paradise Valley is a must.
Guides will generally stop at eddies for wading and a day's float
will include a streamside picnic lunch. Native cutthroats, rainbows,
browns and whitefish provide both dry fly and nymphing opportunities.
While the river is open to fishing all year, spring run-off usually
begins in mid May and can last until around July 4th. During
that time and after any heavy thunderstorms occurring in Yellowstone
park, the river will muddy and be dangerous to float. |
